Having graduated with a Media & Cultural Studies degree from Sunderland
University in 1996, Helen moved to Yorkshire to take a job as a photographer
for Ross Parry – a press agency that supplied photographs for the National
newspapers and magazines.
Before long she moved
to ITV Yorkshire as their stills photographer, shooting the publicity stills
for productions such as Emmerdale, Heartbeat, Touch of Frost, and The Royal.
After eight years at ITV she set up Helen
Turton Photography, which allowed her to expand her television work and also
explore her passion for portraiture and lifestyle.
In 2010 Helen was awarded British Institute
of Professional Photography ‘Best Licentiateship Panel’ for a body of work which
included images of Yorkshire’s World champion triathlete Alistair Brownlee,
Emmerdale actress Emma Atkins, and landscape images of Bolton Abbey.
She continues to work
with television and in celebrity portraiture.
