Another Kind of Art - Gerry Coe FBIPP

Image Copyright: Gerry Coe FBIPP

Don't miss the feature on Gerry Coe FBIPP and his iPhone Art in the current issue of the Photographer magazine (pages 48-53).

Gerry's iPhone Art submission in August this year awarded him his second BIPP Fellowship.

When asked why he chose to do a submission using iPhone images, Gerry said “I have been working with my iPhone4 over the last two years. I first produced a book on Tuscany all taken on the iPhone, and as my expertise increased and I took more photographs I thought it would be wonderful to be able to do a panel of pictures all taken on an iPhone camera. I have always been keen to prove that you do not need the biggest and best megapixel camera you can buy to make great photographs”. He added “I am overwhelmed with how the panel of images have been received and the compliments from some of the people I admire most in our photographic profession”.

Latest News from Company Partner - GraphiStudio

Graphistudio was founded in 1981 as a small graphic and photographic advertising studio. In 1987 it expanded into the wedding photography market. The idea was to offer newlyweds a photographic album using the latest creative graphic techniques. The first Wedding Book was launched to the public in the spring of 1997. Wedding magazines described it as the best wedding momento that had ever been produced. The fame of The Wedding Book soon spread internationally and it was not long before it was presented at international fairs including New York, Atlanta, Tokyo, Barcelona, Athens, Rome and Vienna.

Graphistudio was not only the first in Italy but also in the world to introduce digital print technology to the wedding photography market. It was also the first to develop specific software for the graphic paging up process and also the first to create this method of book binding for wedding photography, combining it with another first in being able to personalise the album cover by printing directly onto silk.

Towergate Camerasure Fine Art Competition 2013

We're pleased to announce that the Towergate Camerasure Fine Art Competition 2013 is now open for entries! 2013 is a very special anniversary year - as we celebrate the 10th anniversary of the BIPP Towergate Camerasure Fine Art Competition.

To celebrate we're offering two top prizes: £1,000 for the Best Portfolio (Five Images) and £500 for the Best Single Image.

All BIPP members are able to enter free of charge including Qualifying and Student members and Friends of BIPP, and the deadline for entries is 14 December 2012.

The subject matter can be anything that falls into the general category of 'Fine Art'. The Portfolio of Five Images must sit together as a panel of images and not be an indiscriminate selection of individual images.

An 'Open' category is also included this year and non-BIPP members will be able to enter for the opportunity to win £250 in the Fine Art Open, Best Single Image category. Entries from non-BIPP members cost £5+VAT per print.

Along with additional cash prizes of £250 each for the Runner Up (Single Image), the International Winner (Single Image), and the Student Winner (Single Image), the top 30 images will form part of an exhibition that will travel around the Towergate offices to promote the involvement of Towergate Underwriting in professional imaging. Images that are selected for the exhibition can be made available for print sales, at prices determined by the entrants, with proceeds split equally between the photographer and Towergate's charity partner for 2013.

Full details can be found on pages 26-28 of the Autumn issue of the Photographer magazine which will dropping through member's letterboxes this week.

Alternatively please visit the Awards section of the BIPP website at www.bipp.com/awards for full details and to download an entry form.
