Olympic Torch goes past BIPP

The Olympic Torch was in Whitchurch, Buckinghamshire yesterday morning and came straight past the BIPP offices!

The Olympic Torchbearer for this leg was Karen Southworth.

Karen has been a regular and committed volunteer for many years and willingly gives up large amounts of her time to care for some of the most vulnerable members of our society including young people, elderly, homeless people and those living with life-limiting illnesses.

Amanda, who runs Twitter, Facebook and LinkedIn workshops for businesses, will also offer advice on a range of marketing and PR topics, and how to move your business forward.

Topics will include:

• What makes a news angle
• How to get your emails read
• Make sure your LinkedIn profile is up to scratch
• 3 ways to make Facebook really relevant
• Why Twitter works for photographers
• How to keep up with social media in just 5 minutes/day
• This will be a fun and interactive session, so you will all come away with some great nuggets of information which you can immediately put into practice for your business.
• The audience will be encouraged to participate and contribute so they can also share some best practice of what has worked for them.

Amanda Jackson has been a leading PR figure in the region for the last 25 years. She was a director of the PR division of an advertising agency (ICA) in Manchester, and set up a PR company for a Burnley advertising agency (Scott Dawson), before becoming an independent PR consultant at Tigerfish PR Ltd in 2001.

The London & Essex Group will be holding a "Summer Bar-B-Q Social" on Wednesday 18 July from 7pm 'til late and this will be a great chance to meet, chat, eat, drink and generally have fun.

Pani, the legendary BBQ king, will be at the helm with the help of the rest of the committee to make this evening a tasty and memorable one.
