Merry Christmas and A Prosperous New Year!
We’d like to wish you all a very Merry Christmas from the team here at Head Office.
As the year draws to a close, we celebrate another successful year of qualifying and showcasing some of the country’s best photographic talents.
Going forward, we anticipate similar successes in the New Year as we work toward further development and progression of the Institute. The first example of which is evident in our decision to begin hosting exclusive ‘sector’ competitions. These shall take place periodically over the course of the year, beginning with the BIPP Wedding & Portrait Awards and the Student Awards. Further information can be found on the website and in the magazine in the new year.
In 2013 we will strive to best represent you as professional photographers, and continue to help you in the development of your photography. Recognising your accomplishments will once again be a priority, across several social media platforms and in the press.
Additionally, we will be looking to further develop direct contact with buyers of professional photography, raising the profile of you – our members – the BIPP, and the importance of using professional, qualified photographers.
In the meantime, we hope you all have a relaxing Christmas period and look forward to a prosperous New Year.
Best wishes,
Chris Harper FBIPP (Chief Executive) & Roy Meiklejon FBIPP (President)
Please note that Head Office will be closed between Christmas Eve and 2nd January.

PhotoTALK With WPO - 21 November
On Wednesday 21 November the World Photography Organisation (WPO) in
association with The Frontline Club will be holding PhotoTALK with WPO: The Funding Game – a special photography event organised
as part of WPO’s new series, PhotoTALK.
The event will provide insights into obtaining funding for
photographic projects.
Experts and practitioners will hit the key points about grants,
bursaries, crowdfunding and more – what they mean, how to find funds and what
to think about. The discussion will cover how to consider formulating your work
and vision to help fund your project, adopting a slightly different, carefully
researched, way of thinking at the pre-production stage. Although often
perceived as an impossible task, there are actually many places that are great
for sourcing funding for photography.
Join the conversation with Canadian photographer Donald Weber,
who recently won first prize in Current Affairs for the 2012 Sony World
Photography Awards, and runs regular workshops on funding photographic projects;
World Photography Organisation Academy member and award winning photojournalist Carol Allen
Storey; Laura Pannack, a World Press Photo winning
photojournalist; and moderated by Stuart Smith of SMITH design.
The talk starts at 7pm at The Frontline Club, 13 Norfolk Place,
Paddington, London W2 1QJ. For more information or to book tickets please

Grow Sales With...Cards at Christmas
As the festive season draws near, you can make it easier for customers to pay by giving them the option to pay by credit or debit card – and grow your sales at the same time! If you’re already starting to think “expensive terminal and account fees” then read on, because there’s a new and innovative way to take card payments, with a new ‘Pay As You Go’ service from Payatrader.com.
Used by small businesses across the UK, Payatrader.com offers a card processing solution with no monthly or minimum usage fees and no minimum term contract. This means you only pay when you accept a card payment – making it ideal for businesses that take low volumes of card payments.
Once you’ve joined Payatrader, you can take a payment anywhere and at any time of day – online at your website, over the telephone using a computer based virtual terminal, by mobile, by sending an email payment request, and via a 24/7 payments line.
BIPP members benefit from a reduced one-off joining fee of £69. Log into the members area of www.bipp.com for the offer code and then visit www.payatrader.com to sign up. After this you just pay a small processing fee each time you accept a payment.
Is it for you? It’s definitely worth checking it out at www.payatrader.com – especially if you only take low volumes of card payments.
