FEP International Photo Days at GMUNDEN, Austria

14th to 15th April, 2013

Designed and built by the  FEP in cooperation with the organization of the Gmunden Photodays, this event will host a program of conferences by renowned European professionals, all creative pathways through which to attest the strength and the impact of today’s Master photographers in Europe.

The program will offer the opportunity to meet some of the most talented, provocative, inspiring, and enthusiastic, European photographers and see why professional photography does have a future and how it is evolving.

The FEP International Days will also be the chance to meet professional colleagues from all over Europe, spending 2 or 3 days in one of the most beautiful and intriguing locations in Austria... and appreciating its intimate picturesque ambience, its colors and flavours with new and old friends.

More about the event

Speakers program
After Valencia 2009 and Lyon 2011, the FEP international days go to Gmunden, Austria.
It will be a great opportunity for professionals, young talents and students who want to grasp the changes of the photographic industry in Europe, and to know the actual standards and trends in social and commercial photography.
The program, made under the auspices of the FEP, the European Federation of Professional Photographers, puts the light on what’s is the top standard in Europe: the  authors who will take the stage will be all  "certified" by the highest European recognitions.
Among them:
Jerónimo H.Coelho, MQEP, from Portugal, will offer us a particular point of view on the photography of architecture, as well as wedding, portrait and fine art. His passion for the image is so intense and the professional standard is so high that you will be simply captured..
Günther Egger, MQEP, Austria has worked as a professional photographer since 1995, focusing on the areas of fashion/beauty, products and fine art. The highest European quality is the icing on the cake!
Filip Santens, MQEP, another eclectic talent based in Belgium, his images space from social photography to illustration, fine art, landscape and reportage.
Martin Vrabko, maybe the best actual Slovak photographer, also a Master QEP. Touching and inspiring, both his portraits and commercial fashion works  show how to add vital energy to all his creations. And how to turn a passion into a great professional opportunity.
Bella West, QEP, UK, specialises in wedding and portrait photography, and is an established photography teacher. Bella will show a special collection of images to be displayed as art pieces from both commissioned works and her personal work over the years.

All the speakers will be presented on the stage by the radio journalist Jutta Mocuba.

Photographer becomes the first to achieve unprecedented third Fellowship with the BIPP

Kevin Wilson FBIPP was recently awarded a record third Fellowship from the British Institute of Professional Photography (BIPP) making him the only member ever to hold three Fellowships in the Institute’s 111 year history.

Kevin Wilson FBIPP
Based at his studio in Dorset Kevin achieved his first Fellowship in 1996 in Portraiture. He then went on to achieve a second Fellowship in Weddings in 2009 - becoming the first member to hold Fellowships in both Portraiture and Weddings.

Widely acclaimed as one of Europe’s leading portrait and wedding photographer Kevin has travelled around the world and has recently returned from a successful visit to the USA.

Kevin has always been an advocate for professional qualifications and a few years ago, a gentleman in his late nineties visited his studio in Dorset. Having been delighted with the results of Kevin’s work he promised to commission a portrait for his 100th birthday, sadly he died before this could be achieved. This inspired Kevin to assemble 20 portraits of people who had achieved the age of 100 or more. He started the project in February 2012 and finished in May. Kevin submitted his project for a qualification assessment with the BIPP in June 2012 and was awarded his third Fellowship in Documentary Portraiture.

The Qualification Assessors were moved by Kevin’s remarkable presentation of images highlighting the harsh beauty of some of the country’s oldest residents.

BIPP President Roy Meiklejon FBIPP commented ‘ Kevin’s achievement is truly unprecedented. His most recent Fellowship presentation was both moving and inspirational. A true reflection of the standard of the photography required at Fellowship level. ‘

When asked why he decided to submit for a third Fellowship Kevin commented ‘I have always felt that it was not good enough to rest on my laurels, gaining a fellowship is a difficult task, once gained it is important to push on forward. I am involved with assessing other photographers’ work and feel that you have to talk the talk and walk the walk, in other words prove you are current in different genres.’

The BIPP trains and qualifies professional photographers who, once qualified, hold either a LBIPP (Licentiateship of the BIPP), ABIPP (Associateship of the BIPP) or FBIPP (Fellowship of the BIPP).  In order to gain a Fellowship with the BIPP a photographer must demonstrate an exceptional level of craftsmanship and creativity.
